Perou, Great-Britain, 1970, learnt how to photograph while he was running a hire studio. This is where he met the people behind Dazed and Confused Magazine. While working for Dazed and Confused he started taking more and more pictures. Perou now shoots music, portrait, editorial and fashion. Next to his photography he has also directed video's for various artists such as Marilyn Manson and KT Tunstall. The following images come from various shoots.

p2pnet view Movies:- Japan’s NEC says it’s come up with a new technology “capable of accurately detecting the illegal copies of video contents or their altered versions uploaded to the internet in just a few seconds”.
Apparently “it can manage to do so by generating a compact signature or fingerprint of 76 bytes of size per frame of the original content and comparing them with the video content on the internet”, says Akihabara News.
“That means, for instance, any screener or camcorder movie copies will be detected by either the producers or service providers fast and easy”, says the story.
According to NEC, “the technology succeeded %96 of detection rate with low false alarm rate of 5ppm (5 in one million) during the tests conducted by international standardization organization (ISO)”, says the story, adding:
“And the technology is already accepted as part of the MPEG-7 standard.”
The auld grey heads who run the corporate entertainment cartels will be having wet dreams.
But maybe not.
Many, if not most, screeners, working copies and other closely held materials end up online only after they’ve been posted there by Hollywood insiders.

Tokyo, May 7, 2010 – NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today the development of a video content identification technology that detects illegal copies of video content uploaded to the Internet in a matter of seconds.
This technology generates a fingerprint (video signature) to identify video content then compares video signatures to the signatures of original content in order to detect copies or altered versions. Therefore, altered video content, such as caption overlays, camera captured copies and analog copies, can be quickly and accurately detected.
This new technology enables content holders and service providers to automatically detect illegal copies and prevent illegal upload of video content on the Internet by registering original video content. These developments are expected to significantly reduce the time and cost of manual content inspections as well as improve the scale and accuracy of content assessment.
This technology has been approved by the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 (*1) as the MPEG-7 Video signature tool (*2), international standard for video identification.
These video content identification technologies feature the following:
Accurate detection of copied or altered video content
Video signatures are extracted for each frame based on differences in the luminance between sets of sub-regions on a frame that are defined by a variety of locations, sizes, and shapes. Video signatures represent a unique fingerprint that can be individually detected frame by frame. This technology is capable of accurately detecting video content with that was created with such editing operations as analog capturing (*3), re-encoding (*4) and caption overlay (*5), which was conventionally very difficult to detect.
A high detection rate and low false positive rate for all video contents
By estimating confidence of signatures generated from each frame and using the confidence for sequence identification, the technology achieves a high detection rate (*6) with a very low false positive rate (*7). These technologies achieved an average detection rate of 96% at a very low false alarm rate of 5ppm (5 in one million) through tests conducted by the international standardization organization.
Detection of short video scenes
Due to the high identification capability of signatures, the technology is capable of accurately detecting video scenes as short as 2 seconds (60 frames), which was formerly impossible when using conventional methods.
Compatibility with home PCs
By designing a compact signature size of 76 bytes per frame, the storage memory required for the matching process is minimized. As a result, a home-class PC (*8) can match approximately 1,000 hours of video in 1 second.
Due to the proliferation of video distribution services on the Internet, the detection and deletion of illegally distributed and copied video content (copyright infringement) has become a crucial issue for content holders and service providers. This problem has conventionally been addressed by manual inspection which is incapable of accurately tracking the constantly growing volume of Internet content. In order to solve this issue, various automatic detection tools have been proposed, such as digital watermarks where content is embedded with special code, and the use of image retrieval technology. However, it was prohibitively difficult to accurately inspect large databases, short content or video produced through various editing operations. These new technologies resolve each of the above issues.
Looking forward, NEC will further develop this technology in order to provide a variety of applications that establish a content distribution structure where all video rights are respected.
This technology was approved as the Final Draft of International Standard of ISO/IEC 15938-3/Amd.4 at the 92nd ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29 WG11 (MPEG) meeting held in Dresden, Germany from April 19 to 23, 2010. The standard is expected to be published in September 2010, following approval from ITTF member countries.
This newly developed technology will be demonstrated at the 13th Embedded System Expo at Tokyo Bigsite between May 12 and 14.

Call me an early adopter. Call me a fanboy. Count the number of Apple products in my home already and see if I care.
This is undeniably cool.
Now, Apple didn’t think up this idea. Trackpads have been part of laptops for many years, and desktop versions have been available too, in many sizes and with many different uses in mind, such as Wacom tablets.
Yet many of these early or other (read “non-Apple”) trackpads have sucked, writes Devin Coldewey at CrunchGear.
It seems obvious. The trackpad is, after the keyboard, the object you interact with the most on any laptop. Wouldn’t laptop makers want this object to be largest, most responsive, most versatile thing they can make it? Yet on every PC laptop I review or test out, the trackpad is small, poorly placed, unresponsive, or all three.
Apple trackpads, though, seem to get consistently cooler, especially since the company started making them all multi-touch.
Anyhow, there’s no other point to this post than to express my awe at yet another Apple gadget I want to see sitting on my desktop. My birthday’s in September, people.

So, you’re off to college come September and in need of a new laptop that will suit your budget and still allow you to accomplish academic fundamentals like emailing, word processing, and online library research.

As a college student who has paid my own way, I’m going to suggest you go the premium route and instead buy yourself an Apple laptop: for example, a 13″ MacBook or MacBook Pro.
As a seasoned Mac user, I can guarantee you’ll end up with a high-quality, highly efficient laptop if you go with the MacBook Pro-and, in the long run, your Apple laptop will turn out to be the most economical decision you could have made. Why, you might wonder, would I recommend you purchase an Apple laptop when, to buy a basic MacBook will run $999 and a basic-model laptop from Acer might run as little as $499? The difference is in the level of quality, and any long-time (or even newfound) Mac user will testify that their Apple laptop has outlasted any PC laptop they ever owned.
My first Apple laptop was a 12″ iBook that I purchased for a grand total of $1700 after taxes (and that included a free 20 GB iPod-an educational deal that is still available through Apple to this day). Though it cost me more upfront, that laptop lasted me five years-and at the end of those five years, I sold it for $200.
Now, I have a brand new 13″ MacBook Pro, which cost me $1575 after taxes and again included a fabulous educational rebate in the form of an 8 GB iPod Touch. Do the math yourself, and you’ll see that my iBook proved to be a long-lasting laptop for a value just as good as a value PC: $1700 purchase cost – $200 resale value = $1500 overall spent on the Apple laptop itself. Divide $1500 by the 60 months I owned the laptop, and you’ll discover that, for $25 a month, I owned what was a high-quality, light, and durable laptop that functioned beautifully.
If I own my MacBook Pro for the same amount of time and also resell it for $200, I’ll have only spent $22 month for the same pleasure of owning a lightweight laptop with a long-lasting battery. If you had bought the value laptop at approximately $575 after taxes, you would have to own it for at least two years to have it match an Apple laptop in value alone-and as I have often heard from PC users, their value laptops hardly make it past a year.
Value PC laptops don’t boast many benefits besides a small start-up cost, even when they’re brand-spanking new: unlike their Apple counterparts, they’re heavy, bulky, and terribly designed. On top of that, few of them come backed with reliable customer support or even a warranty, both of which you’ll have for one year with your new MacBook Pro, or for as many as three years if you buy extended AppleCare.
Overall, the initial cost of an Apple laptop like the 13″ MacBook or MacBook Pro might seem intimidating to a new college student, especially if you’re faced with the challenge of putting yourself through school without any financial support from your family. Remind yourself that you’re going to college because you’re smart, and worked hard to get this far. If you apply those skills to the purchase of your laptop, a little financial planning and extra work should make it possible for you to buy yourself an Apple laptop, one that might see you through the length of your entire program.

(Crain's) — Threadless.com has made the jump from T-shirts to laptops, thanks to a deal with Dell Inc.
The Chicago-based Threadless is providing images to Dell's Design Studio where purchasers can customize their laptop lids. Threadless initially contributed 11 designs, and selections will be updated.
The Chicago firm joins nail-polish manufacturer OPI and Major League Baseball in offering designs for Dell laptop lids.
Jake Nickell, who co-founded Threadless in 2000, said in a statement that the Dell partnership was an “amazing opportunity” for the company as it celebrates its tenth year.
Threadless is also set to announce a deal to customize Havaianas flip-flops, according to a Chicago Tribune report.
Threadless operates on the concept of peer approval: Each week, it accepts T-shirt designs and puts them to a vote on its Web site. The company then prints a limited number of the most popular designs.

This year’s selection of rice paddy art has begun to crop up in fields across Japan.
Rice paddy art in Inakadate (Aomori prefecture)
Two historical figures — the legendary warrior-monk Benkei (left) and the warrior Ushiwakamaru, a.k.a. Minamoto no Yoshitsune (right) — have emerged in a pair of fields in the Aomori prefecture town of Inakadate. For nearly 20 years, the town has prided itself as home to Japan’s finest rice crop art, which is created by carefully arranging different colors of rice plants in the field.

Fujitsu release a thin and light 11.6 inch notebook called Fujitsu LifeBook PH520 with an AMD processor. It is powered by a 1.7 GHz AMD Athlon II Neo K125 processor, Mobility Radeon HD 4225 integrated graphics, 2GB of RAM, and a 320GB hard drive.
The Fujitsu PH520 was first introduced a few weeks ago, and now it’s available for purchase in the US for $599. The glossy ruby red LifeBook PH520 notebook measures a little more than an inch thin and weighs just more than three pounds.
Fujitsu LifeBook PH520 features with a 11.6-inch Crystal View display with native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth, and a 6-cell battery with enabling up to 6.2 hours of run time. It is comes with an 82-key spill-resistant keyboard and pre-loaded with Windows 7 Professional and Office Starter 2010.

If you’re in two minds about whether to buy a tablet or a laptop then Fujitsu may have you covered. The company has just released the LifeBook TH700 Tablet with a multitouch 12.1″ display. But it’s mounted on a bi-directional hinge with a keyboard sitting underneath allowing a choice between laptop and tablet in one device.
Here’s the main spec of the machine:
The multitouch display is setup for fingers, but also accepts pen input. The cost of the TH700 is $1,149, but that reduces to $1,099 with a $50 mail-in rebate. First shipments are expected July 5.

This LifeBook seems to have quite a lot going for it. The combination of a Core i3 chip, plenty of RAM, and 5 hour battery life make for a solid laptop experience. But then you’ve got the option of using it like a tablet thrown in.
It can’t compete with the iPad in terms of price or thickness, but you’re getting a very different device here. A bigger screen, full keyboard, 320GB of storage, and the ability to use it like a laptop. A lot of people would like the option of both a tablet and a laptop, so this could be popular.
The fact the Clamcase exists shows that there is a market for tablets with keyboards, Fujitsu has just opted to make it a laptop first and tablet second with the TH700.
We’re not sure what Fujitsu is thinking here, but it has to stop. Get a load of its motion control interface running on a 15.6-inch laptop. Yes, a 15-inch laptop. We might be able to understand this if it was plugged into a big flat panel television or projector, but trying to manipulate those itty bitty controls from 10-feet away is, well, silly. The Core i3-350M-powered Fujitsu LifeBook AH700/5A does feature HDMI-out but you still have to place the laptop in front of you (and the TV) with the display popped open so that the camera can see your movements.
